Tuesday Tip: Make Every Second Count!

See if you can solve this riddle. If there are 60 seconds in a minute, 3,600 seconds in an hour, and 86,400 seconds in a day, how many seconds are there in a year? The correct answer is 12. January 2nd, February 2nd... Gotcha! I was never known for great humor.

On a more serious note, the fact is that we all have 31, 536,000 seconds in a year, and that's a lot of time.

Your Tuesday Tip: Make Every Second Count!

One easy way to make sure that your seconds are being used properly is to use daily time tracking software like the apps found at toggl.com or wonderapps.se. They allow you to easily record how much time you are spending on tasks like email, phone calls, social conversations, and more.

If you don't want to keep up with daily tracking, then this is the perfect time to set a New Year's goal to do your once a year time log.

  • 1st, choose a simple time log like the one found at http://goo.gl/MKtIV9.

  • 2nd, choose a day that you would consider a typical day for you.

  • 3rd, use the time log to track every second of your day from beginning to end.

  • 4th, review the notes, and make needed adjustments. You're done!

Remember, if you watch your seconds closely today, you will watch your productivity skyrocket tomorrow.
